Pegi Lobb and Kylo

Pegi currently volunteers her Saturday afternoons to work as a lead docent at our Historical Village in Weaver Park.

Pegi has lived in Hilliard for four years, having moved here to care for her grandson. Three years ago, she connected with the Hilliard Historical Society when she inquired about helping with the herb garden located behind the log cabin. Last summer, after touring the society's buildings, she decided to also become a docent.

Pegi's dog, Kylo, has been trained as both a therapy dog and a service dog for her. In his role as a therapy dog, they visited hospitals, schools, institutions, clinics, and hospice patients at the Hospice of Central Ohio. She takes Kylo everywhere with her. He is a much-loved addition to her classrooms. “I think the students come to see him rather than listen to me!”

What Pegi loves most about the Hilliard Historical Society is the unique opportunity it provides for the community to learn about the city's history and the sheer determination of those who established it, from John Hilliard to the Weaver family. She is deeply impressed by the dedication of the society's members and wishes more people would take the time to learn about Hilliard's history and the incredible ingenuity of its early citizens. She finds it humbling when reflecting on early life with so few amenities.

Pegi wishes Hilliard were a more walkable and pedestrian-friendly town. Having moved from Westerville, where she lived just half a block from Uptown with its numerous activities, she misses that convenience. However, she believes that Old Hilliard is striving to become a more inviting and walkable community.

Professionally, Pegi is a professor of psychology at Otterbein University and Columbus State Community College. In addition, she teaches in the CCP program, at the Hilliard Innovation Hub, and at the ALC in Grove City.

She holds a degree in restorative practices and volunteers with the Franklin County juvenile court system’s diversion program for youths. Pegi also volunteers at the Ohio Wildlife Center, supporting their environmental programs.

Additionally, Pegi is the advisor for a chess club at the Columbus State Community College - Delaware campus.
