Quik Print
Quik Print is a local printing service who has done several excellent printing jobs for the Historical Society. The owner is Bob Calhoon, brother to lifetime Historical Society member Tom Calhoon. Bob’s business is located at Mill Run in the Berkshire Hathaway building at 3535 Fishinger Blvd., Hilliard, OH 43026, 614-488-2683.
In his 48th year of business, the experienced printer reflects on a career filled with changes and growth. Starting with a retail store on Grandview Avenue, he spent 40 years serving the community from this bustling location. However, as rents soared and technological advancements demanded costly new equipment, he chose to scale back. This led him to rent an office on 5th Avenue, where he continued his work for six years until the building was slated for demolition to make way for new apartments. Fortunately, his brother Tom Calhoon, had extra office space in Mill Run, allowing him to avoid retirement and continue his passion.
The decision to enter the printing business came during a time when the industry was booming. "The invention of a simple platemaker allowed the 'while you wait' printing industry to flourish," he recalled. "In the 70s and 80s, it seemed like there was a printer on every corner." This technological innovation spurred his entry into the business, where he has since thrived.
His love for the area is deeply rooted. "I grew up about 1 mile from my office, so it’s almost like working from home," he shared. This close connection to his community has always been a source of joy and comfort. His commitment to the local community is evident through decades of involvement. "I was very involved in the Grandview community for decades. I served on the board of directors of The Grandview/Marble Cliff Chamber and participated in numerous events throughout the years," he explains, underscoring his dedication to giving back.
His mission statement is straightforward yet profound: "Just to treat everyone the way you want to be treated." This philosophy has undoubtedly played a significant role in his long-standing success.
In an industry that has seen many changes, this local printer's story is a beacon of perseverance, community spirit, and the timeless value of respect and kindness.
