It’s that time again! It’s our 56th Annual Heritage Day on Sept. 28! FREE to all! The firing of the cannon and George Washington will kick off this event at 10:00. Make sure you stop at the Colwell Chapel to hear Washington speak at noon and 2:00! For certain, bring a blanket to sit on to watch the Ohio Village Muffins & Diamonds play a vintage exhibition baseball game on the open field behind the church from 10:30-11:30. In the village, there are 2 new buildings open to the public to visit. There’s butter-making, doll & lace making in the schoolhouse, flag & lantern demos in the caboose, learning Morse code in the train station, shelling corn & husking corn, and a Model T and vintage wagon to see. Take advantage of the many photo opportunities throughout the village and stop by the Civil War rifles & doctor’s table, baskets, corn husk dolls & quilt displays. Taste the homemade peach cobbler in the log cabin, watch the blacksmith by the barn and kids can play vintage games and do crafts. Among the grounds there’s portrait drawing, jewelry, leather and paper crafts to purchase. In the museum, you’ll find weaving and learning how to knit, a beekeeper, a special doll collection, along with a military exhibit, barbershop, doctor’s office, post office, general store, chicken & cow exhibits, 1920s parlor, a vintage kitchen. Don’t forget about the Gift Shop where the Kid’s Scavenger Hunt starts. Yummy foods are available at the pavilion and so much more! It’s going to be a GREAT day!
